An Effusive Lunar Dome Near Fracastorius Crater: Spectral and Morphometric Properties

چکیده
We examine a dome within the boundary between Fracastorius crater and Mare Nectaris. The has noticeable vent structure appears to be perpendicular wrinkle ridges in southern Nectaris basin. spectral signature of this dome, derived from Clementine UVVIS Chandrayaan-1 M3 reflectance data, revealed that low TiO2 content primarily basaltic material. Using altimeter we measured diameter 28.6 km, with height 241.5 m, flank slope 1°. Based on rheological modeling viscoelastic model presumed feeder dike, obtained magma viscosity 3.1 × 105 Pa s, an effusion rate 5.9 m3 s−1, duration multiple processes 4.15 years, rise speed 2.1 10−4 m s−1. From these measurements, estimate dike geometry have horizontal length 234 km width 11.8 m. A comparison other noted lunar domes similar morphometric properties reveal viscosities found near craters Mee, Milichius Petavius.

Effusive Lunar Domes near Kepler and Piccolomini: Morphometry and Mode of Emplacement
Introduction: Lunar domes are smooth low features similar to low terrestrial shield volcanoes. They were formed during the terminal phases of lunar eruptions and mostly occur in the maria. A few domes have been reported in the highlands, but these are usually difficult to observe because of the brightness and ruggedness of the surrounding terrain. According to [1,2], constructional volcanic fea...
متن کاملThe Lunar Concentric Crater Archytas G Associated with an Intrusive Dome
Introduction: Lunar concentric craters represent an anomalous type of impact structures on the Moon [1]. The concentric crater Archytas G in mare Frigoris has first been catalogued as a concentric crater in [2]. According to Fig. 1, it is located on top of a large lunar intrusive dome, termed Ar1 in [3]. The dome Ar1 is the only lunar dome known to date with a concentric crater on its surface. ...
متن کاملGanymede Craters: Relationships between Spectral Properties and Crater Retention Age
Introduction: Both bright and dark craters occur on Jupiter's satellite Ganymede. The Near Infrared Mapping Spectrometer (NIMS) onboard the Galileo spacecraft performed spectroscopic measurements of Ganymede in the spectral range of 0.7 to 5.2 microns [1]. Observations of Ganymede's craters acquired at sufficiently high spatial resolution coordinated with Galileo SSI (Solid State Imaging) obser...

متن کاملThe origin of lunar crater rays
Lunar rays are filamentous, high-albedo deposits occurring radial or subradial to impact craters. The nature and origin of lunar rays have long been the subjects of major controversies. We have determined the origin of selected lunar ray segments utilizing Earth-based spectral and radar data as well as FeO, TiO2, and optical maturity maps produced from Clementine UVVIS images. These include ray...
